Amid the usual argy -bargy and backbiting among the poli- bloggers, one thing is becoming clear of late. The seafront cleaning system has had a boost! Commendation is due to all involved.

What a lot of fuss among the blogging political elite of Thanet. All up on their back legs claiming insult and injury. Oughter be spending their time sorting out the islands woes really.

Feeding the weeds in the yard this evening to the sound of something sizeable taxiing around up at the airfield, it occured to me that there might have been some advance in the aero industry since I left the RAF twenty odd year ago.
In those days aircraft cost a fortune to operate, no doubt the same is true today, but still small operators seem to be able to make a living at it. Airlines of course are a different matter, they have shareholders to support.
We reckoned that the old Wessex choppers cost around £!K an hour to run back in the 80's, so it was fairly evident that a thing of that size would'nt make much of a profit flying say 10 commuters up to Battersea or Stanstead, sitting on the ground all day and bringing them back at night. But I wonder if technology has advanced enough yet to make it worthwhile for a connection service today.
I know that one operator runs a schedule from Newquay to Stanstead and has done for years so it must pay, although how and why escapes me.
Admittedly I can't see too much need for a commuter service from here at the present, but as a stop-off between a cheap end european airport and a similar London satellite perhaps there is scope........?
Bet old ER would welcome a quick link to the riviera!

Up at the park again today to hear that the local arborialist had been in attendance. On examining the vandalised conifer he pronounced it as good as dead and as having a net worth in excess of £3K!
It seems that the vandalism was carried out by a family, in full view of many others. Fair to assume therefore that said 'family' were a real bunch of gibbons if no-one had the bottle to challenge them.
I probably would'nt have stuck my head above the parapet either, but surely in this age of digital cameras, someone took a snap or two???

Out and about early this morning, King George VI park. Looks like the aftermath of a pop festival up there! Don't remember seeing so much rubbish laying around for years.....
Have there been any collection arrangement over the bank holiday weekend?
Saddened to see great swathes of bark torn from one of the conifers up there, must have taken the drunken bastards hours to tear it off. Still, a bit of bark still exists, maybe just enough to allow the tree to survive. Established trees are rare enough in Thanet without mindless vandalism taking a toll.
How much longer are we going to put up with these anti-social acts before the worm turns.
There used to be an old saying that 'floggin's too good for 'em' ..... NO IT'S NOT!!
